ABOUT BO

Bo Butner made his NHRA Pro Stock debut at Atlanta Dragway in 2015 and claimed his first Pro Stock world championship in 2017. Over the course of the past six seasons, the lifelong Indiana resident secured 11 victories in the highly competitive NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Pro Stock category against some of the best drivers in the world. His Rick Jones-built JHG Chevrolet Camaro and engine program are provided by Mark Stockseth and five-time world champions Elite Motorsports.

After taking a step back from the professional ranks at the conclusion of the 2020 season to focus on Sportsman and bracket racing, Bo returned in 2022 for a full-time Pro Stock season with a mission to win races and put his sponsor, Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage and the #JHGDriven brand in the spotlight. JHG curates a world-class car collection featuring more than 150 highly sought-after vehicles ranging from classics to hot rods and supercars.

With a name that is synonymous with success in NHRA Championship Drag Racing, the fan-favorite driver not only has a Pro Stock world championship to his name, but he is also incredibly accomplished in Sportsman racing. Bo earned a Competition Eliminator world championship in 2006 and holds four Division 3 season titles in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. His extraordinary racing abilities are evidenced in the National Event titles he’s won in six categories – Pro Stock, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Street and Super Gas.

Bo also won the very first Factory Stock Showdown race, which took place as an exhibition event at the historic U.S. Nationals in 2012. He amassed four Factory Stock Showdown victories during the time in which the class was considered a specialty category and not yet an official NHRA category.

In drag racing, it’s common for the lines between professional life and personal life to blur, because, frankly, drag racing IS life for those who are a part of this incredible community. Bo is married to Randi Lyn Butner (formerly Shipp), the 2021 NHRA Division 3 Stock Eliminator champion. Randi Lyn is only the second female to have earned seven Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national event victories. Bo and Randi Lyn made history when they doubled up with Pro Stock and Stock Eliminator wins at the 50th annual Gatornationals in 2019. They plan to continue racing – and winning – for many years to come.
