About TONY
Pick a racing series. Choose a style of race car. Name a venue. Chances are, Tony Stewart has proven victorious – in and out of the driver’s seat.
A motorsports icon, Stewart is the only driver to win championships in the NASCAR, IndyCar, and open-wheel USAC divisions (including the unprecedented 1995 USAC Triple Crown). Since 2022, Stewart has expanded his legendary career into NHRA Championship Drag Racing first with a two-car Tony Stewart Racing team and then as a driver.
Stewart joins Elite Motorsports for the 2026 NHRA season after a breakout 2025 where he
claimed his first Top Fuel victory at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas—adding to his NASCAR Cup, IndyCar and USAC wins at the same venue. He secured a second win at the Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Chicago, where he also ran his career best elapsed time, 3.679-seconds, had three runner-up finishes and set his career best speed at 335.15 mph in St. Louis. Stewart clinched the inaugural NHRA Top Fuel regular-season championship and finished fifth in the year-end points standings.
Stewart first entered NHRA competition by fielding entries in Top Fuel, with wife Leah Pruett as the driver, and in Funny Car, with four-time world champion Matt Hagan at the wheel. His personal NHRA driving journey began in the Top Alcohol dragster class. In just his fifth career start Stewart drove to a final-round victory at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He followed with three more wins and finished 2023 as the Top Alcohol championship runner-up, earning NHRA Person of the Year honors and Top Alcohol Driver of the Year.
In 2024, as Leah stepped away from driving duties to start their family, Stewart stepped up to pilot TSR’s Top Fuel dragster. With a runner-up finish at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals and five semifinal appearances, Stewart earned Rookie of the Year honors, qualified for the Countdown to the Championship, and finished ninth in points.
Stewart’s NHRA success further cements his status as one of the most versatile and accomplished competitors in history.
