Greg Stanfield
About GREG
Greg Stanfield made his return to NHRA Pro Stock competition during the 2025 season, joining his son, Aaron Stanfield with Elite Motorsports. The pair made a splash at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals when they met in the final round. Greg would get the better of his son picking up the victory in just his tenth race back in the Pro Stock seat. With the victory and a semifinal appearance, Stanfield finished the season 12th in points.
Stanfield is a drag racing seasoned veteran having competed and won in six different classes including Pro Stock, Pro Stock Truck, Super Stock, Stock, Competition Eliminator and Factory X.
He has five Super Stock championships that came in 1990, 1992-1994 and 2021. He made his debut in Pro Stock in 2002 and posted a handful of top 10 finishes. It was in 2008 that he secured his first Pro Stock win at the Texas Motorplex and in 2010 he won the U.S. Nationals en route to finishing runner-up in the Pro Stock championship chase.
In 2024, when Factory X became an official class in the NHRA, Stanfield was the first to earn a victory and later that year, became the Factory X world champion. He had four wins in the eight-race series to earn his sixth world title. Stanfield also earned three exhibition race wins in Factory X during the 2023 season.
Stanfield is a second-generation racer, he followed in the footsteps of his father Howard and Uncle Allen and passed the racing-bug along to his son Aaron. Not only do the Stanfields have success from behind the wheel, but they make their living in the Stanfield Racing Engines shop building for drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and NHRA Factory Stock Showdown.
